In honor of last week’s Ethyl Eichelberger Award celebration we’re posting an amazing series of pictures sent in by Joanie Moossy. The photos feature PS122 staff members and party guests dressed up in Ethyl’s Auntie Belle Em costume after the final Avant-Garde-Arama “Wrecking Ball” in June 2011.

Seagull (Thinking of you) Extends Beyond COIL
While COIL is winding down, Half Straddle’s Seagull (Thinking of you) lives on until January 26th. Check out what Backstage had to say about the piece:
Writer-director Tina Satter’s impressive “Seagull (Thinking of you),” in P.S. 122’s Coil Festival, is a distilled contemporary homage to the emotional chaos that informs Chekhov. – Backstage
People are Talking COIL#13
ArtInfo on COIL13:
“Lower East Side’s bastion of contemporary performance, PS 122, will kick off its eighth annual COIL Festival this evening…a perfect antidote for the doldrums of early January”
excerpt from Backstage review of Peggy Shaw’s Ruff:

COIL Hub is in Full Swing
Thanks to all who came out to the COIL toast on Thursday night at Dixon Place. With the insanity of COIL it already seems like a week ago, but it was in fact last night that we were emerging from Peggy Shaw’s performance of Ruff to find Joro Boro spinning some Balkan dance tunes accompanied by the amazing Hannah Thiem on Violin. Just before midnight Vallejo gave a great toast (video to the right) in which he talked about the roots of COIL as small dance festival 8 years ago. And look what it has become…
If you haven’t stopped by the hub, there is a lot going on this weekend and next week:
–COIL HUB nights
–Our conversation series with BOMB Magazine, SPAN
–Co-Curated events with Dixon Place
-Gourmet sandwiches, snacks and drinks by VBar plus free WIFI.
