Juan Del Hierro joins his sons, Efrain and Pablo Del Hierro—creators of performances featuring surrealist puppets—to reinterpret the iconic piece La agonía del Danzak. Originally performed by Juan Del Hierro himself in New York City in 1984 with improvisations structured and choreographed by Susana Reyes, the work is a dance-theater piece based on the short story “La agonía de Rasu Ñiti” by Peruvian writer José María Arguedes.

After decades, Juan Del Hierro revisits the piece, now titled Montaña de Raiz through a new lens of time and space, reinventing it alongside his sons, performance duo Poncili Creacíon. Together, they use magic, ritual, memory, and mystery to share their interpretation of the indigenous worldview, as well as their own perspectives on life and death.
