Thanks to everyone who came out to see Pascal Rambert’s A (micro) history of world economics, danced last week. If you missed it or wan to relive it, we’ve got some great photos of the performance here:

Alessandra’s (micro) history
Note from the editor (Jeso): In Pascal Rambert’s upcoming A (micro) history of world economics, danced, 50 participants come together to share their personal economic histories as well as reflect on our collective histories over centuries of time. Alessandra Calabi, a participant in the NY iteration opening this weekend, gave us her thoughts and (micro) history…
We sit. We write. Some lean against the wall, some lie on their back. We write more. We do not write about economics, not about our knowledge or experience of it. We do not write about history. We do not write about dance. We have no prompt. The stories that are written and read aloud are honest reflections of a moment of being inside this community we now belong to. What are we doing?

Farewell to Ruth Maleczech
Today PS122 pays a sad farewell to our friend from 150 First Avenue, Mabou Mines co-founder Ruth Maleczech who passed away yesterday. Vallejo put it well when he said, “Vale Ruth Maleczech. She seemed so very close to immortality.”
Here is a video that highlights Ruth’s brilliance, an excerpt of Mabou Mines’ “Lucia’s Chapters of Coming Forth by Day” filmed during PS122’s Retrofuturespective Festival in 2011.

New Work by Pavel Zuštiak
Veteran PS122 choreographer Pavel Zuštiak is bringing new work to Abrons Art Center next month and we’re looking forward to seeing it. The video teaser is cryptic and intriguing and wins the award for shortest teaser video ever.
A man in an empty space: in a field, onstage, in combat. Is this his ultimate battle and can it be won? Pavel Zuštiak/Palissimo charts new territories with Endangered Pieces, a performance unfolding in a series of dream-like scenes set amidst a looming calamity. Throughout, the visceral trumps the literal, leaving visual impressions that linger and gestate in the subconscious as both alluring and unsettling.
Who are AUNTS?
Note from the editor (Jeso): AUNTS is one of my favorite dance groups in New York City. Everyone and all are welcome to perform, be involved, attend, drink, shop, interact and, most importantly, dance at an AUNTS event. To me, AUNTS are a throw-back to the art “happenings” we read about in art history (and that I so wanted to be apart of). I am beyond thrilled that AUNTS will be taking over the PS122 Season Launch Party next Tuesday (9/24) at Issue Project Room. If you haven’t been to an evening hosted by AUNTS, I’d suggest you get on their mailing list quick. An entirely different world awaits you.
Don’t know what a non-familial AUNT is? Here’s a great Q & A that the leaders, Laurie Berg and Liliana Dirks-Goodman, did with Time Out New York some time ago. I clipped it to make it shorter for the blog, but you can read the full article here.
