The Derek Lloyd Production Fellowship

Derek Lloyd, our Director of Production and a beloved staff member for over 14 years influenced the careers of countless designers, technicians and the performing artists he unflaggingly championed. He was instrumental in the planning and design of Performance Space New York’s transformative renovation. His impact as a mentor and upon the new venues will resonate in the NYC theater scene he so loved for years to come.

To honor his commitment to furthering the vision of emerging technicians, designers and artists, Mary Rose Lloyd, the Lloyd and Rose families and Performance Space New York have established The Derek Lloyd Production Fellowship. As Performance Space New York moves into our newly renovated theaters at 150 First Avenue, this fund will ensure Derek’s spirit, ethos and the holistic approach he brought to his work continues for generations of theater artists.

The Derek Lloyd Production Fellowship will advance the career development of an emerging technical artist in the performing arts. This juried fellowship supports a one-year salaried position in the production department at Performance Space New York and provides the recipient with professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities with PS New York staff as well as some of NYC’s leading theater designers and production managers.

Gifts to the Derek Lloyd Production Fellowship may be made by check, payable to “Performance Space New York”. Please indicate “Derek Lloyd Production Fellowship” on the memo. You may also make a gift online by clicking the donate button below.

Performance Space New York is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization and all donations are 100% tax- deductible.

Derek Lloyd Memorial - May 4, 2014

Thousands of artists, and tens of thousands of audience members -- whether they knew it or not -- benefited from the passion, love and care with which Derek Lloyd approached getting live performance on stage. This was matched only by the passion for his wife, Mary Rose-Lloyd, his family, his cats, his cooking and the Mets.
